DUI / DUII DEFENSE ATORNEY
The House of Delegates of the Oregon State Bar unanimously passed a resolution yesterday stating that Public Defenders should be paid as much as Deputy District Attorneys.
The disparity in the income of these two groups is striking. Worse, Public Defenders are not state employees and therefore don't get the nifty state benefit packages and pension plans that District Attorneys do.
Public Defenders deserve parity with state attorneys for the essential and difficult work they do.
Public Defenders will submit an appropriations request to the 2017 Legislature.
